Cheesy Sourdough Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sourdough discard
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp butter, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 1 green onion
  • 2 oz shredded cheese
 

Steps

  • Whisk sourdough discard and egg together
  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt into a separate bowl
  • Grate the butter into flour mixture and gently mix
  • Add shredded cheese into flour mixture and gently mix
  • Add sourdough/egg mix into flour mixture and mix with spatula
  • Gently knead for 10 seconds just to mix (wash hands with cold water to avoid sticking to hands)
  • Roll out dough onto counter, 1/2 inch thick rectangle
  • Pamphlet fold dough (1/3 fold each side) and roll out to 3/4 inch thick rectangle
  • Cut 6 even squares and put into freezer while oven preheats
  • Bake for 20 minutes and let cool on drying rack
